Nylmah lasercut: pages seven and eight

Excerpt from my lasercut book Nylmah, showing selected scenes from the story.

An unknown visitor makes an appearance at court in the jungle kingdom of Nylmah and offers a gift to its ruler. But the gift is refused... and the city's fate is sealed. In another chamber of the palace, the enraged visitor curses the city and plunges it into chaos by unleashing a plague of monkeys from his bag of magic.

This double-page spread shows the destruction of Nylmah: its libraries, monuments and buildings are vandalised, its human inhabitants are driven out, while the monkeys now occupy the city's spaces and even crown one of their own as its new ruler. The city's defeat is complete:

'...it is said that in Nylmah there once was a city, at the heart of a jungle, in the monkeys' domain....'
