'I started making artists' books during my MA in Authorial Illustration at Falmouth when I was exploring the idea of telling stories in one frame.  Since graduating in 2011, I've continued with this subject by producing artists' books made from etchings and laser cut designs.'

Joanna creates limited edition artists' books made from etchings and laser cut artwork.  She uses concertina books as a format for visual storytelling, a format that allows her to create three dimensional landscapes against which a narrative can be depicted.  The books are illustrated by etching or laser cuttings, and can be displayed as large, panoramic paper structures.

Joanna studied Modern History at the University of St Andrews before going on to complete an MA in Authorial Illustration at University College Falmouth.  She currently lives in Edinburgh.
